Sugar and Pixie Dust

Thanks to the wonderful Taylor, who has a blog about the Disney Career Start Program, has made a short questionnaire about somethings relating to this program. And now, here are my answers!

1. How did you find out about the career start program?

Well, I have to admit. Working for Disney was not something I had intitally thought about. I had always planned that I would, ya know, finish high school, go to college, and get a job. I was very close minded. So my life began to revolve around colleges, which isn't a bad thing. I had a few that I had applied to. (And I am still waiting on an answer from one) Anyway, I was on the computer one day, I don't remember what I was doing when I saw an ad for the Disney college program. I was curious because Disney has always been a big interest of mine. I like to go on Mouseplanet.com and read the Walt Disney World updates, I listen to a podcast, the WDW radio show, and I visit sites like yesterland.com, to gain a little background information on Disneyland and Walt Dinsye World. So I Read about the College Program and think "Hey, this is pretty interesting." So, I Incorporated it into my "Master Plan" Well, in early January, I receive a letter from the University of North Florida...."We're Sorry, but you have not been accepted...." So, back to square one for me. Felling bummed would have been an understatement. I thought that...I wasn't going to go to college. I began to look at the Disney college program with a longing. I didn't realize it, but I really wanted to do this program. I did a little bind digging and found the Disney Career Start program. Could it be? was it? YES! It was everything I wanted and more! It is like the Disney College Program, but with fewer jobs and fewer classes. But that wasn't a big deal for me. It was something I could do while I am thinking about other ways to get into college. Maybe I could do this program and go to a community college...who knows? This would just be the first step towards the next chapter in my life.

2. (If you get in) What are some things your not so excited for/nervous about?

Moving I want to move away, don't get me wrong. But, it's pretty nervewraking knowing that you might not be living here in a few months time. I mean, I grew up here, I have friends here, and family. And now I am going to a place where there is nothing but Mickey Mouse?? But I know that when I do come back home, I am coming home a stronger, more confident person.

Meeting New People I know this may shock some people, but I am an extremely shy person. I don't make friends that easily. So I think that this will be so great for me because I have already made friends!

3. What are some things you are very exited about?

Working Working at Disney will be so rewarding! I can't believe that I have this opportunity! I mean, after work or days days off, I can just, go to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours and then head on over to Epcot. That would be soooo cool!

New Friends lol It's something I am nervous about, but at the same time, I am super excited about! I mean, just the application process has helped me develop some new friends, and I know know people that are going though the same thing I am going through...

4. What is one little thing that you can't stop thinking about when you imagine doing the program?

It's got to be living with roommates. I've never had to share a bedroom before....lol. It's pretty cool. I mean, we learn about each other and develop friends ships, go to the parks, or to the beach. People say that you can develop a close bond with your roommates because you are around them for so long. I think that is awesome...and it's something I cant stop thinking about1

So...those are my answers! Thanks to Taylor for thinking of them! Very good questions! You should totally read her blog at http://taylor-spoonfulofsugar.blogspot.com/

And also, read Haley's blog at http://haleypixie.blogspot.com/ She's also going through the application process for the Disney Career Start program too! Good Luck to all of us!!!!!
